The Television Academy Foundation has launched its first Production Assistant Training program for high school students, supported by funding from Best Buy. The free after-school course begins this month and runs for ten weeks.
Sessions are based at Teen Tech Centers in Boyle Heights and North Long Beach. The curriculum covers entry-level production-assistant responsibilities and introduces longer-term career paths across television production.
Industry professionals are scheduled to teach practical roles, and the program includes visits to scripted and unscripted productions. Television Academy Board Governor Donny Hugo Herran serves as the first instructor.
