The 37th New Orleans Film Festival opens Thursday, October 22, for six days of in-person screenings and events across the city. The New Orleans Film Society says virtual programming continues through November 1, though individual films may carry geographic restrictions.

Organizers describe a program of more than 150 films with more than 250 filmmakers expected. The festival is an Academy Award-qualifying event for documentary short, narrative short and animated short films, and it also offers panels and selected free events alongside ticketed screenings.

The official attendance guide lists the Contemporary Arts Center as the festival hub, with additional screenings at The Broad Theater and the Uptown Prytania Theatre. Viewers should consult the current schedule for venue, age and access details; this is an advance notice, not a review of unseen films.
